This course will focus on: • Ensuring that stormwater management systems are properly installed; • Best management practices (BMPs) are continually maintained during and after construction; • Establishing a consistent level of technical expertise and professional conduct for all individuals responsible for inspecting erosion and sediment controls, and stormwater management systems. This course will provide attendees with a Stormwater Inspector certification issued through the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and provides a level of technical expertise to fluently inspect stormwater management systems during and after construction. This training is provided in a two-day course (Tuesday and Wednesday) and is separated in to two levels. The class cost is $175 per student (please contact the Walton County Planning Department to register at 850-267-1955), free to government employees, and free to current college students. Attendees are responsible to bring their own supplies (manual if not prepaid in advanced, pens, pencils, paper). Tier I (Day one - Tuesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) provides the following skill set: • an introduction to stormwater, erosion, and sedimentation control; • an overview of the proper selection, installation, and maintenance of BMPs. Tier II (Day two - Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) provides the following skill set: • Knowledge of associated stormwater regulations; • In depth description of BMPs for stormwater management; • Inspection and enforcement procedures. There will be a 1 hour closed book exam on the second day. A grade of 70% or better is required to obtain a certification as a Florida Stormwater Inspector and the following (if applicable): • FL Licensed General Contractors will earn 8 CEUs • FL Association of Code Enforcement (FACE) officers will earn 12 CEUs • Certified Floodplain Managers (CFM) – ASFPM will grant 12 CECs Parking is free.
