Description

Save the Date!Join us for ImpactWalk at Renaissance Park on Saturday, November 12.We are piloting ImpactWalks, educational walks to Dallas’s outdoor treasures, as a side activity of ImpactNights. The inaugural walk will take place at the South Oak Cliff Renaissance Park, one of Dallas’s newest parks, co-led by Molly Plummer of Trust for Public Land (TPL) and Dr. Barbara Minsker, Hunt Institute Senior Fellow and SMU Professor. Developed by TPL in partnership with the South Oak Cliff community, the park transformed a former illegal dumping site across the street from a high school into an anchor for health, education, and sustainability for the neighborhood. The park features solar-powered lighting, rain gardens, an innovative playground, and more. The park is the first element to open of the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt, which will eventually stretch from the Chalk Hill Trail in northwest Oak Cliff to the Joppa Preserve and Trinity River. Join us to learn about the history of the park site and future plans for the Five Mile Creek Greenbelt. Agenda for the walk includes: · Guided tour of the park and environmental infrastructure · Cedar Crest Trail walk and Mindfulness-in-Nature activity · Wildflower seed distribution This is an in-person only event. Waiver required to participate. See registration form at link below for details.
