Hello, I am Kaycie. I originally founded this Meditation Group when I first moved back to the Effingham area in 2012. Over the years the group has changed and continues to evolve based on the needs of those who attend. Currently we meet every Monday at Hazel Jayne Village in downtown Effingham.
The practice is largely based on mindfulness. I lead the group in simple stretches before we begin our practice. Sometimes we use sound healing tools such as bells or gong to help us remain present and focused. As a registered Yoga teacher I also teach guided breathing and other techniques to help deepen your practice. No experience is required to attend these sessions. For best results I encourage you to attend weekly, but anyone is welcome to drop-in at any time.
I do appreciate donations of at least $5 per class. I also appreciate communication regarding attendance, but do not require that you register in advance.
There are chairs and blankets available to make sitting more comfortable. I suggest wearing comfortable, loose fitting clothing. I also recommend that you do not eat at least 30 minutes prior to the practice.
