Groundswell Community Project is a 501c3 non-profit that provides research based intersectional surf therapy programs for women's health, mental health, and ocean health. Groundswell partners with a variety of rehabilitation centers for women experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking and substance abuse disorders to use the power of the ocean as a tool for further connection to self, others and the natural world. Hakuna Wear is an amazing sustainable swimsuit brand made from recyclable plastics. All suits are active and surf ready with key pockets. They are also women owned and from San Diego, CA. This event is a fundraising opportunity for No Plastic November and to celebrate women owned brands in the community (just like Hakuna Wear). No Plastic is our annual fundraiser to create awareness, take action and raise funds towards sea love, self-love and sisterhood. Every dollar raised is a wave of love, hope, and healing for a woman overcoming abuse, displacement, racial and gender violence, depression, anxiety and trauma. This NoPlasticNovember we goal to raise 20k which will provide Diversity Surf Therapy Scholarships, surf gear, and yearlong mental health, women’s health, and ocean health programs for low access communities of women and girls around the globe so they too can have equal sustainable access and reclaim their healing, power and belonging in mother oceans waves together. So come support some local Women Owned Business and know your holiday gifts are supporting sustainability, women and surf therapy programming!
