Advocating for a child with disabilities is hard. No matter what we do as parents, we always feel like we aren’t doing enough. It takes much more than gathering records and facts to successfully advocate for your child. It’s “a fine art” and takes skill to advocate while making progress. During this OPEN TO THE PUBLIC session of "The Art of Advocacy" you will learn: The Michigan Alliance for Families mission How the Michigan Alliance for Families can help your family throughout your child’s school career. You will learn the top three red flags to look for while advocating. Learn about your local PAC and why it is important to participate Administrative relationships: How to NOT advocate like a bull in a China shop and when to hire a special education advocate. Forget Me Not : Inclusion in the Classroom trailer The VERY IMPORTANT presentation will be followed by a Q & A with a small panel: Misty, Victoria and Andrea. They all have different forms of advocating and can give you different perspectives. Childcare will be provided.
