Description
Important: When you contact us for the study, please provide us with your Full Name, Age and Email address. Research study participants wanted: Help campus researchers learn how to measure physical activity using activity monitors and earn up to $550 or $750 for one week. The amount of compensation will depend on the type of data collection group to which you will be assigned in a random manner using a flip of a coin or some other method of chance: Group 1- includes sleep measurement; Group 2 excludes sleep measurement. Help Northeastern University researchers learn how to accurately measure everyday behaviors using wearable sensors. When? The study takes place over eight continuous days. We can set up a week that will work for you. Where? At the Human Performance and Exercise Science Lab on the Northeastern campus and in your own time. What? The study involves one laboratory session of three to five hours, wearing sensors on your body every day as you go about your daily life for a week, and may involve two nights of sleep wearing more sensors at night to measure your sleep patterns. During the laboratory session you will be guided through some light and moderate-to vigorous intensity activities on and around campus—with plenty of rest. You will then wear sensors for eight days as you go about your daily life. During this time, you will also wear a front-facing body-worn video camera whenever you are awake. If you are assigned to Group 1, you will visit the lab to be set-up with special sensors to measure your sleep patterns for two nights during the week. Each day, you will be asked to describe what you have done during the last 24 hours in a 30-60 minute Zoom session. At the end of the study, you will return to the lab to drop off the equipment and discuss your experience. You will receive up to $550 or $750 in compensation for your participation. Participants must be healthy individuals between 30-85 years of age, willing and capable of participating in the laboratory session at and near the Northeastern University campus in Boston, and visiting the laboratory on three other occasions during the study.
