MOORESVILLE, NC — A Mooresville man's who recently made a late night run to an area grocery store for an energy drink and salad ended up leaving the store with another pile of green after purchasing a winning $100,000 scratch-off lottery ticket. "I scratched the first one, and nothing," Matthew Hehs said, according to North Carolina Education Officials. "When I scratched the second one, I had to kinda take a step back. I triple checked and it was $100,000. I was pretty excited!" Hehs purchased the winning 110X Cash lottery ticket at Harris Teeter on Peninsula Drive in Davidson. Thursday, he traveled to NCEL headquarters in Raleigh to claim the prize. After taxes, he took home $70,756. "It's gonna be money well spent," Hehs said. "My mom's being released from the hospital and I told her not to worry about bills because I would be sure to help her out. And I'm going to take care of the local fire department, sheriff's department, and first responders in Iredell."
