OverviewThe Amnesty International Chapter at UW-Madison is raising awareness of the devastating effects of climate change that Pakistan has experienced due to multiple catastrophic monsoons by having a discussion with Pakistani climate activist Aliza Ayaz and Pakistani journalist Sana Bartool (additional speakers are being finalized). With this discussion, students are able to learn more about the floods in Pakistan, what causes them, and how it has affected communities. After the discussion, students will be led outside in front of the Memorial Fountain where they will help create an “altar” of candles, flowers, and a banner that will serve as a commemoration of the lives lost from the floods.
