Singer-songwriter Simon Lynge will play at the Theatre on the Ridge in Paradise on Wednesday, November 16th, at 7 pm as a presentation of the Paradise Arts, Theatre, and Culture Hub (PATCH), whose production arm is known as PATCHworks.
Simon Lynge’s music ranges from carefree to deeply thoughtful, playful to resolutely serious. His masterful guitarwork complements a warm, rich voice, though it’s his poetic lyrics that captivate. Astute observations about the world and humanity are woven with an appreciation of the beauty of life. Lynge’s songs affirm the joys of our existence, even in the midst of deep sorrows.
Lynge has been honored with a nomination from the 16th annual Independent Music Awards for his album, The Map of Your Life, and has opened for the likes of Emmylou Harris. Music Week Magazine said, “Lynge's music is a brand of quite faultless melodic rich pop.”
Simon grew up in both Denmark and Greenland and began singing as a boy in a church choir in Denmark. He was inspired to begin writings songs in his teenage years by the music of Jimi Hendrix, The Doors, Simon & Garfunkel and Crosby Stills & Nash, among others. He feels a strong affinity for Greenland, where his father is an acclaimed accordion player, and his grandfather was a composer and conductor and namesake of a church choir in Qaqortoq, which still exists to this day.
Simon's music brought him to Copenhagen first, then to the UK and the US. He has had several song placements on US network television and film and has performed at Glastonbury Festival in Great Britain.
Doors open for seating at 6:30PM. Snacks and drinks will be sold. Tickets, $20, are available at Eventbrite.com and at the door
