Garage rock + R&B = ?

For a while I've wanted to start a band that combines the sound & energy of garage rock with the pocket and feel of early R&B, funk, etc. Like The Shadows of Knight covering Louis Jordan tunes, or the Sonics jamming with the Stax band. I play guitar, and my ideal line up would be another guitarist, drums, and two horns, probably tenor sax and trombone. This is just ideal, so bass, other horns, keys, or percussion would be fun. Horns are key, and vocals would be needed. I can sing but would prefer not to do lead. FYI, I do not have a practice space. Thanks for reading - cheers!
