Be sure to get tickets though, this show has sold out every year since 2018. The Freedom Affair is a 9 piece soul juggernaut from Kansas City, MO led by three powerhouse vocalists. Born out of a meeting between Chris Hazelton and Dave Brick, The Freedom Affair formed in 2017 with a vision to write original soul music inspired by the traditions of the genre’s past with a universal message that looks toward the future. Basement jam sessions between Brick (drums), Hazelton (bass), and guitarists Cole Bales and Branden Moser sparked the groundwork for the band’s first few tracks. Paula Saunders, Misha Roberts and Seyko Groves joined shortly after, fulfilling the vision of a three female led group, each with the power to lead and each with unbound love to step back when it’s time for the other to shine. Rounding out the band’s sound, Brett Jackson (Saxophone) and Pete Carroll (Trumpet) bring a wealth of experience, style and ability to an airtight horn section that can shift between explosiveness and gentle harmonies at the drop of a hat. The Freedom Affair’s live shows have proven to be soul-stirring, transformative events, moving audiences both physically and emotionally to joy, tears, and elation.
