Description

Saturday, November 26, 2022 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Instructor: Robert Bowden  Growing plants from seed is a cost effective and dependable method of growing flowers, vegetables and herbs. By raising plants from seed, you can control every aspect of a plant’s development including pest control, plant diversity and timing. Ever wonder what the growers have sprayed on your store-bought vegetables and herbs? If you grow them yourself you won’t have to worry about it. In this class you will learn about seed sources, seed selection, sowing techniques and much more. All class participants will receive a free package of flower or vegetable seeds at the end of class. Robert Bowden recently retired as Executive Director of Leu Gardens after nearly three decades. Earlier he was the Executive Director of the Atlanta Botanical Garden and Director of Horticulture of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis. He is the author of many books including: Florida Fruit & Vegetable Gardening: Plant, Grow, and Harvest the Best Edibles. He also teaches several horticulture classes at Valencia State College.  Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available to FNGLA Certified Professionals upon request. Participants must withdraw from classes at least five days prior to the start of class in order to receive a full refund or credit. If we must cancel a class, we will make every effort to inform you prior to the class time, and you will receive a full refund or credit. Only those registered for the class will be permitted in the classroom. Childcare services are not provided.
