Hello! I’m seeking housing for myself and my kiddos. I am posting here in the community forum because I’ve had tough luck in the housing wanted section. I am relocating to the East Montpelier area to be closer to my family, the waldorf school for my kiddos, and educational opportunities for myself. Very excited to weave into the local community! The space would be for myself, my wonderful almost 4 year old son, as well as my new baby coming this winter. The proximity to parks and it being in a quiet area would be a huge plus for us. Hoping to find a place with a yard that is enough to enjoy too- we would love to have a yard for building snowmen this winter, starting a garden in the spring, and space to play in the sprinkler outside on hot summer days. 🙂 Although I’m very flexible with all of these little details and want to explore any option available! I am a studying herbalist, student traditional midwife, and I do adult and child caregiving. My little family is in a place of unexpected transition, though I do have very reliable income, savings/financial resources, and support from family- as well as a housing choice voucher to cover the great majority of housing expenses. This voucher is all new territory for me but seems to be a nice kind of mutual security blanket for both landlord and tenant, promising that rent will always be paid in full and on time. Let me know if you have any questions about that and I will do my best to answer them! Here are some other basics~ my current credit score is 690, I have a clean background check, excellent personal references, and great rental history. No smoking, no pets. We are looking to move immediately! In Washington county I am able to afford a 2+ bedroom for up to around $1,400, a 1 bedroom for up to around $1,100, or a studio for up to around $950. For the most part I am not open to living with roommates (partly because it would be difficult to utilize my voucher in a home share scenario, but also because I am very sensitive to the use of synthetic fragrance and because I have young children). I am open to aligned alternative/off grid/rural/community-centric/work-trade living situations though, and under the right circumstances (if we jive and the space is right) a roommate situation may work! I am eager to rent- I’m committed to being an easy and respectful tenant, truly just a kind human searching for a safe and cozy home- and want to find a landlord that is genuinely wanting to rent to me! I am being bombarded with scammers who send very short, one sentence emails similar to: “Hello, are you still interested renting an apartment?” although when I respond they are just looking to get a hefty “application” or “holding” fee wired to them right off the bat- or asking for lots of details already included within this listing- it is so discouraging!
