Description

This beautiful leggy girl looks to be a pure breed Doberman. We are calling her Loni. My husband rescued her on August 11th up in Three Rivers, near the Horse Creek campground by Lake Kaweah. She looks to have been bred multiple times and then been dumped!😞 From day one she was sweet, trusting, and just very low-key and easy. As her weight returned, so did her playful nature. Her ears and tail are natural, she is spayed as of October 10th and fully healed. We will charge the $150 that her spaying, Parvo vaccine and Rabies shot as cost as her re-homing fee. She is totally housebroken and is very eager to please. We have taught her to sit and lay down so far. We have learned that she will be 3 years old in February. She was just skin N bones when we found her. She has been eating and drinking enthusiastically and so is rounding out all those boney edges! She was still only up to 58lbs when she got spayed. We are still feeding her to gain more. The 1st few nights with us she didn't make a sound; but now she barks with our other 2 dogs at the coyotes, bears, and anyone coming toward the door. She found her voice and it's a deep and protective bark! She is very friendly; calmly and confidently walking up to visitors and presenting her head for a petting. She is great with our male and female large dogs. She plays well with smaller dogs. We think she would be a wonderful family dog, or a great constant companion for an older person as she is happy to follow us around and hang out wherever we are. She is very sweet and chill inside; yet bouncy and playful with our other dogs outside. She has been completely off leash on our 2+ acre wooded, unfenced property since day 4. She doesn't seem too interested in wandering off and comes running when called. This is a fantastically good natured young dog! She seemed to have zero emotional baggage from whatever she lived through that left her almost starved to death, and with small scars all over. All physical wounds are healed. We are seeing now that she does have emotional wounds - she cowers when we are upset with her and yell at her. One day she wasn't listening to me call for her and instead was headed towards the neighbors yard. I lost my patience and screamed her name... the poor thing literally jumped in the air with fright, turned immediately, and came running to me! She came and cowered! Broke my heart. but I did it a few weeks later when she seemed to have disappeared and wasn't coming to the normal whistle and call. So I angrily screamed her name again... and less than 60 seconds later she's barreling around the corner as if to say "I'm here! I'm here!" She was covered in dirt - must have been chasing another squirrel into a hole. Not sure she'd be good with cats. This morning she caught and shook a skunk on her morning walk. Somehow she only managed a little stink blowback in her mouth area, not a direct spraying. She was surprisingly cooperative about letting me scrub all over her muzzle with a hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dish soap mixture. Such a sweet girl! Most pictures are 1st or early days.. the last picture, curled in a ball, was taken Sept 24th. Honestly, if we could have 3 dogs, we would keep her!! My 1st attempt at an adoption post here got flagged and was removed. Why? I think it was because I didn't specify my re-homing fee? My intent is to find a loving home. In a perfect world I would give the dog away; but we don't live in that world. If you have a problem with this ad and want to flag it, please contact me first and tell me why. If I can fix the issue I will. We plan to "vet" our adoption prospects as much as private people can, in order to make sure this wonderful girl finds the safe and loving home she deserves!❀🐢✌
