Description
Unfortunately, we have found ourselves in the situation where we are needing to rehome our fuzzy companion. We got him as a rescue from a shelter when he was about 1 years old.
At the time he had some resource guarding issues, and has high anxiety around other dogs. We intended to get him into training classes to teach good communications skills and socialize with other dogs, but covid hit and the classes we were taking him to were suspended.
Now he’s too old for the obedience classes, and still has some resource guarding and aggression issues with other dogs.
98% of the time he is a total Angel. Watching over you as you do stuff around the house, laying with you on the couch/bed. Loves walks and tug of war.
If he sees another large dog, he tends to lose his mind with barking and such, and has nipped at us for trying to get between him and another dog/fence with a dog behind it. He has also nipped at us when there’s dropped food that we attempt to retrieve, that he has his sights on. He is immediately sent to his kennel when this happens, but it’s still an issue.
He knows “sit”, “stay”, “leave it”, “take it”, and “go home” (return to kennel).
Unfortunately due to kiddo getting older and being swamped with school, and is being swamped with work; he is not getting the interactions he needs or exercise he needs. He is a 60 pound sweet protector type dog, who is not good around other large dog, but tolerates smaller dogs. He’s ok around bigger kids, but tends to knock smaller kids over with licking and jumping to lick their faces.
Small rejoining fee, but is way cheaper than the total cost of all the supplies that come with him. (Crate, food bin, food, leash, electrostatic kitchen barrier because ha can open doors and cabinets)
