Description
I am an independent filmmaker who founded a film co-op that has over 3,000 filmmakers participating, who collaborate on projects about timely issues with the majority of profits benefitting that issue. For example, a recent film I completed is about brothers in the music business and has timely mental health themes (addiction, suicide, etc.) relevant to today.
I am doing research for a new film that is about a gig worker who juggles a number of jobs but is still unable to be able to afford an apartment – due to the high cost of rent. She has been couch surfing and sleeping in her car. Her gig jobs include: driving people, doing deliveries, cleaning, being a temporary for-hire support worker (for the elderly or people with disabilities), and doing shifts at a women’s shelter.
As part of my research, I would like to interview people who either:
A) have experience as gig workers (such as driving work, cleaning and support work) AND/OR
B) have had to create other options for housing due to the high cost of rent (such as couch surfing, sleeping in vehicles, etc.).
Interviews would be by phone (I would call you). I would pay each person $20 for their time (for up to 1 hour). That would always be the fee (everyone is treated equally). People would sign a release, agreeing that they are willingly sharing information for research purposes to this film which has a social welfare and economic development goal. (The photo shown is from a recent Human Rights Watch story on the rights of gig workers).
Please contact me if you are interested and describe how your experience relates to options A or B above (or both).
Thank you!
