The Fletcher School's Conference on Gender and International Affairs (CGIA) is one of the school's marquee annual events that has been successfully led by students for eight years. CGIA endeavors to bring together folks from different sub-disciplines within international affairs to understand and deliberate upon the importance of gender in every aspect of the work they are engaged in.
This year's theme, Challenging for Change: Amplifying Voices into Action, recognizes that making change is never easy. Structures around us may not be just or equitable, but they serve the interests of those who maintain them. As a result, any attempted change must collide with the power asymmetries that maintain the status quo. This year, as part of the conference, we want to explore various acts of resistance across contexts, celebrate those who are part of these movements, and, most importantly, emphasize joy and care, not only as tools at the disposal of these crusaders but also as acts of resistance themselves.
The CGIA, now going into its eighth year, seeks to continue the traditions of open dialogue, respect for narratives and individuals, and commitment to working towards a better, more equitable world for all.
