You may or may not know Kevin Qunell or Q as his friends call him. Q is a larger-than-life person who wears his heart on his sleeve and loves to tell story after story to anyone who will listen. Unfortunately, as one of his best friends, I have heard them all over the years. I joke about this, but Q would do anything for anyone without expecting anything in return. Well, it’s time we gave back to our Q. Q was diagnosed with stage 4 mouth cancer that spread to his liver, lungs, and spine. He was given 14 months and began chemo immediately. After battling through 4 rounds of chemo the tumors had disappeared. Then a month and half ago with his last check up the tumors in his mouth/neck were back and were growing. He immediately began radiation and immunotherapy treatments. The Immunotherapy treatments are deemed experimental and not covered by insurance. The treatments have shrunk the tumors and the doctors are being optimistic about his outcome. Unfortunately, the out-of-pocket expenses with these experimental drugs have grown and we are having a fundraiser to assist in these costs.
