In this special workshop, a first offered by Vara Winery & Distillery, Laurent Gruet will share his knowledge of sparkling winemaking and work with each participant to discover what level of sweet/dry you like in your bubbles. Dosage is a form of sweetness that is added to a Champagne and Laurent will provide different levels of dosage for participants to mix and taste, including as his signature dosage, to explore the complexity of finishing off sparkling wine.
Méthode champenoise, which Laurent is steadfast in executing in his process, is the traditional champagne production method that promotes a second fermentation in the bottle. Hear about his process, taste the options that exist in the champagne world, and the elements that make Silverhead Brut a splendid sparkling wine.
Ticket includes two glasses of sparkling wine, sampling of base wine with multiple dosage options, light snack, a bottle of Silverhead Brut, and Laurent's winemaking lesson.
