ALEA Public Information Officer Senior Trooper Reginal King said the chase began at 3:48 p.m. Friday when troopers tried to stop a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado for following too close to another vehicle near the 137 mile marker.
King said the driver, 36-year-old Dennis Clay Sagely, refused to stop and continued north on Highway 69 to Interstate 59.
"Sagely eluded Troopers through Tuscaloosa, Greene and Pickens counties before being stopped and apprehended in Greene County at the intersection of Alabama 14 and Interstate 59," he said. "The stop and arrest was successful as a result of a joint effort by ALEA's Highway and Marine Patrol Troopers, along with assistance from the Greene County Sherriff's Office, Pickens County Sheriff's Office, Pickensville Police Department, Aliceville Police Department, Carrollton Police Department and the Eutaw Police Department."
Sagely was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail for attempting to elude police and reckless endangerment charges. King said he also received multiple other traffic violations.
