Refuge Gaming is hosting its first Competitive Crokinole Tournament at our spacious gaming facility located at 1480 Pearl Rd Suite 6, Brunswick Ohio, 44212. As this is our first Competitive Crokinole tournament, it has not been sanctioned by the National Crokinole Association. The tournament shall however utilize NCA rules of Crokinole available at: http://nationalCrokinoleassociation.com/resources/rules.html. Cost for the tournament is $30.00 but includes facility day pass and pizza lunch. There are 30 spots available for the tournament. Registration on tournament day is possible only if spots are still available. If we do not have at least 8 participants by 6:00 pm on Monday, December 5, 2022, the event may be cancelled. Registration begins at 9:00 am. The tournament will begin at 10:00 am with a round robin preliminary round to determine competitive Match seeding. Players will be assigned a group number randomly upon check-in on the day of the tournament. One member of each group will be designated the “Anchor” and be the base of all round robin movements. Once assigned a group number, participants will play every member of their pool. Competitive match seeding will be determined by normalized scores. Players will have 6 playable discs and be allotted 8 minutes per round with a 2-minute break for score verification, reporting and practice shooting. Once time has been called for a round, unplayed discs will remain unplayed, however one last disc may be played if required to even the number of discs shot by each player. Players will record their total points in addition to the number of 20’s they shot. A player will score 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss. Competitive matches will utilize Swiss pairings with 4 games per match round. Players will have 6 playable discs and be allotted 8 minutes per round with a 2-minute break for score verification, reporting and practice shooting. Once time has been called for a match round, unplayed discs will remain unplayed, however one last disc may be played if required to even the number of discs shot by each player. Players will record their total points in addition to the number of 20’s they shot. A player will score 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a loss with a maximum of 8 points possible per match. There will be a 10-minute break between each competitive match for score verification and next round table pairings. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 finishers and the Lantern Rouge (Last Place) recipient. The top 3 finishers will be eligible to attend our 2023 Invitational Tournament. Tournament Schedule: • 9:00 – 10:00 am. Refuge Gaming will be open for check-in and day of registrations. Name tags for players will be provided at check-in. • 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Round Robin preliminary round. • 12:00 – 1:00 pm Lunch • 1:00 – 6:00 pm Competitive Swiss Pairing Matches. • 6:00 pm Event prize presentation.
