Native Comedy Night Lisser Hall, Mills College at Northeastern University Free Event Open to the Public, Registration Required Mills College at Northeastern University is pleased to present Native Comedy Night featuring Tai Leclaire, writer and actor on NBC’s Rutherford Falls; Siena East, writer on HBO Max’s Clone High; and host Jackie Keliiaa, as seen on Comedy Central and Team Coco. Comedians: Jackie Keliiaa: Jackie Keliiaa (pronounced Kel-ee-ee-ah-ah): is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actor based in Oakland, California. You can find her in the 2021 release, We Had a Little Real Estate Problem: The Unheralded Story of Native Americans & Comedy. Jackie has been featured on Comedy Central, Team Coco, and Illuminative’s 25 Native American Comedians to Follow. She wrote for the web series You're Welcome America and has been featured in a variety of publications including Vulture, Uproxx, LA Times and KQED among others. Jackie has opened for Judah Friedlander, Nikki Glaser, and was featured on the First Nations Comedy Experience streaming on Amazon Prime. Jackie produces Good Medicine Comedy, an all-Native comedy show which has raised over $11,000 for charitable causes. Jackie is a regular at Bay Area venues and has performed at San Francisco SketchFest, Punch Line San Francisco and Cobb's Comedy Club. Social Media: @jackiecomedy on IG/Twitter/Venmo Tai Leclaire: Taietsarón:sere 'Tai' Leclaire is a writer and actor on Rutherford Falls - the Peacock comedy by Sierra-Teller Ornelas, Mike Schur, and Ed Helms. His script "How To Deal with Systemic Racism in the Afterlife" awarded him The 2022 Sundance Institute Native Lab and also the Indigenous List on the Black List in partnership with Illuminatives, and the Sundance Institute. He’s currently in development and making his directorial debut with his first short film Headdress - coming in 2023. He's a former house performer at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre New York. He’s also performed at festivals around the country including Austin Sketch fest and Philly Sketch Fest. He's currently repped by 3 Arts Entertainment and UTA (United Talent Agency.) Social Media: @tai_leclaire IG/Twitter Siena East: Siena East is a Choctaw writer, comedian, and actress based in Los Angeles. As a writer she has written for HBOMAX’s upcoming Clone High. Siena was featured in llluminative’s 25 comedians to follow, and ABC’s Native American Heritage Month campaign where she spoke about the freedom to be flawed, but they cut the part about catching a barf with her hands. Or rather... failing to catch a barf with her hands. As a comedian, she has performed all over LA as well as for the Association of American Indian Affairs and Good Medicine at the Oakland Museum. Registration is required. This event is free and open to the public, thanks to Indigenous Heritage Month and the Division of Student Life at Mills College. Mills College Indigenous Heritage Month 2022 is organized by the Ethnic Studies Program, and the Programming Committee at The Center for Student Leadership, Equity and Excellence.
