Description

We are excited to share what this new policy initiative and expansion will look like and how it will help all of the teens and families you serve across the state . We envision “Teen Centers” to be a critical part of the solution to the number of Utah students experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. Because of rising housing costs and inflation, that number is increasing at an alarming rate. Over the last 2 years, nearly 4,000 additional students (totaling at least 15,499) without stable housing have been identified in Utah - up 34% from two years ago. Without their basic needs being met, these at-risk students are significantly less likely to graduate from high school. High school teen centers would help these students meet those basic needs by providing an accessible safe space with services like showers, laundry, and food. We hope you can join us. We are stronger together! “If there is going to be change, real change, it will have to work its way from the bottom up, from the people themselves. That’s how change happens.” — Howard Zinn XOXO, Kristin Andrus
