About Craft + Foster: In the spring of 2015, wife, mother of four, and military veteran, Melissa Burgess received a DIY candle-kit for her birthday and quickly fell in love with the candle-making process. She found that it gave her a creative and therapeutic outlet while juggling the demands of motherhood and processing an on-going journey with PTSD. After signing up for a handful of local maker's markets, Melissa's unique blends, fragrant throws, and simply-stated packaging, quickly gained the attention of San Diego consumers and retailers alike. This early success eventually led to her husband exiting corporate America and joining her in this "accidental candle company" full-time. In just a few short years, Craft + Foster grew from local candle pop-up to a nationally recognized brand featured in Neiman Marcus, GQ, FabFitFun, WWD, The Golden Globes, and amazing independent retailers across the country. About EARTH Having gone to undergrad for Architecture and Masters in Interior Design she left the industry to find her passion. Coming from a line of entrepreneurs, Ade Villatoro knew owning her own business had to be in her future somehow. After a couple decades of starting and failing many ideas, getting hired and fire from lots of companies, and working minimum wage jobs a switch finally clicked in 2021 when she worked for a coffee company that kept having to run out for product. The idea of an organic grocery store downtown came to mind and as she pinterested aesthetics and how to own a grocery store this new concept of zero waste stores kept showing up. Upon opening the link she went down the rabbit hole of zero waste stores which has led us with Rockford's first 100% sustainable store. Please join us as we write history.
