Description
My philosophy is "Everything I ever needed to know about business I learned on the sports field." From Behind The Scoreboard, I feature the sports stories that tell us much more than simply who won or lost. These personal and inspiring experiences of grade school, high school, college, other amateur and even pro athletes allow all of us to reflect a little more on what is important in life. ~ James C. Remembering Pat Tillman
Pat Tillman was born on November 6. He was a star youth and college athlete and then he became an All-Pro safety with the Arizona Cardinals.
Pat was deeply affected by the attacks on 9/11. His great-grandfather had served at Pearl Harbor, and now Pat felt it was time for him to step up for America. He exchanged a football jersey for a military uniform. On April 22, 2004, Pat lost his life from friendly fire in Afghanistan. He was 27 years old.
As with everything during his short life, Pat was prepared for any situation. He had left a message for his wife, Marie, in the event he did not return home. He told her to live! That she has done according to his wishes. Plus, a decade following Pat’s death, she established the Pat Tillman Foundation that provides scholarships for veterans and their spouses.
Let’s never forget Pat Tillman.
