I am a musician from Norway, drummer, percussionist, orchestral drummer, start at CSUN in january 2023. I am 54. I work as a teacher in my hometown, i teach drums/percussion etc. I've got a jazz-performance bachelor from earlier. Is there other other instrumentalists somewhere not too far from Northridge interested in Afrobeat-music, that would like to work with those styles of music? I adore those rhythms, the Tony Allen drumming-style. At the same time i must say i haven't fully absorbed the sound of the style. Isn't all the best in music something we should work hard for to get? So i think the gifts will come little by little. Fela Kuti doesn't play saxophone like Wayne Shorter, but he had another mission in life, and in that context i can live with how his saxophone sounded. Those interested in making a workshop-band let me know, any ideas, let me know.
