Volunteers Needed Save Our Trees!

Jobs

Nassau Ave near Russell Streer, New York City NY

Description

Ongoing volunteer groundskeepers needed for Brooklyn parks. Set your own availability, whenever you come to the park. What is needed: persons who can check trees for any foreign objects either stacked on or put in branches, anything tied around the trunk of the tree, anything piled around the root or trunk of the tree and remove those objects, either in a trash can or taken out of the park and discarded elsewhere. There is an ongoing problem of trees being damaged by children building forts or just piling trash, heavy objects or dead branches on otherwise healthy trees. Parks department is understaffed and there is nobody to deal with maintaining the health of these trees so it is up to volunteers. No sign up necessary, just take a walk through the park and see if there is anything that shouldn't be in or on a tree and remove it. That simple. Branches on the ground should also be taken out of the park, can be bagged up and placed for sanitation or brought elsewhere. Anything hanging from a branch of a tree such as a rope or rope swing should be cut down also. Where: McCarren Park (between Bedford Ave & Driggs Ave also between Driggs and Bayard and all around the park) McGolrick Park (between Russell and Monitor from Nassau Ave to Driggs Ave)
