Description
The Saint Gregory Choir, which sings 16th c. polyphonic and Gregorian chant music at the 8 am Sunday morning Catholic Mass, in the church of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Turners Falls, is looking for a few singers to supplement our dwindling numbers. The choir has been together for over 20 years, and has been singing some chant, and pieces by Palestrina, Lasso, Byrd, Des Pres and others, but we could use at least another soprano, two altos, a tenor and a bass, in order to have 2 persons on each voice. If this is something you are interested in and are able to do, let me know. We will work out a rehearsal time (usually has been Saturday mornings) depending on responses, and it would be nice to have a fairly firm commitment to sing at Mass every Sunday, starting with a quick rehearsal around 7:40 am. I provide scores and mp3s with which to practice at home. You don't have to be a Catholic (although that helps) but a respect for the music as worship of God is essential. This is a volunteer, unpaid choir.
