Join us for the AIA Dayton Focus on Design Lecture on November 15th at Sinclair Community College. Our featured speaker is Craig Hartman, FAIA, Senior Consulting Design Partner at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM). His projects have been widely published and examples of the work are held in SFMOMA’s permanent collection. Hartman’s architecture is noted for environmental sustainability, humanism, and the union of material, structure, and form with the poetics of natural light. He has taught, lectured, and juried work at multiple architecture programs in the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. In addition to numerous urban towers, high-density residential, and civic, cultural, and academic, architecture, Hartman’s work includes the masterplan and architecture for the 20 million square foot Beijing Finance Street urban district and masterplans for the City of Guangzhou, China, and San Francisco’s Parkmerced and Treasure Island. is notable civic and cultural architecture includes the US Embassy in Beijing and Consulate in Guangzhou, the new Los Angeles Federal Courthouse in Los Angeles, Oakland’s Cathedral of Christ the Light, and SFO’s International Terminal along with San Francisco’s 2018 Moscone Expansion and 2020 Municipal Offices and Permit Center at Van Ness and Mission Streets. His academic work includes major projects for Harvard, Rice, and Stanford Universities and projects completed on four University of California campuses.
