Sickle Cell Disease Association of Broward County is celebrating 45 Years of providing service and support to the community. The Association will be recognizing these five outstanding community servants for their dedication, contributions and commitment to SCDABC: Pamela A. Adams, Maxine Dalen, Vanessa Graham, Lisa Monroe and Commissioner Lorenzo Wood. At the Annual Appreciation and Scholarship Banquet 10 Sickle Cell Warriors will be awarded $1000 educational scholarship each at the Banquet. The Sickle Cell Disease Association of Broward County, Inc. (SCDABC) is a non-profit, 501c3 organization that was established and incorporated on December 23, 1977, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida through the efforts of the late Attorney Henry Latimer, the late Mrs. Cheryl Peterman and Levi Henry, Jr. SCDABC mission is to enhance the quality of life for persons living with Sickle Cell Disease by addressing their medical, social, psychological and informational needs; To educate the community and increase community awareness about Sickle Cell Disease and Sickle Cell Trait. To provide a vehicle of information for governmental and legislative relationships to encourage research in hopes of facilitating a cure for this chronic disease.
