Attendees are NOT required to be a Christian to participate nor do they have to be affiliated with HBU Dr. Benjamin Blackwell's Bio provided by hbu.edu/contact/benjamin-blackwell/- Dr. Ben Blackwell has a diverse educational background. He received a BA in Accounting--he went on to earn his CPA license in Arkansas' jurisdiction--, a BA in Biblical Languages, a ThM in Historical Theology and Pastoral Ministries, and studied in England to earn his PhD in New Testament and Historical Theology. He is a published author of multiple books--the most recent being "Participation in the Righteousness of God: Justification in Pauline Theology" and "Engaging Theology: A Biblical, Historical, and Practical Introduction"--, articles, and essays. His primary research interest are in the areas of Pauline soteriology (the doctrine of salvation) and the reception history of the New Testament, particularly in the Greek patristic tradition. Other topics of interest are Trinitarian theology and the contemporary interest in the Eastern Orthodox theology of theosis. Dr. Blackwell is currently the professor of Early Christianity at Houston Baptist University (HBU) and the director of Houston Theological Seminary Texas at HBU. His primary teaching areas are New Testament and Theology, but he thoroughly enjoys interacting with students on a wide variety of topics. He particularly enjoys helping students see how Christians of various time periods read the Bible differently.
