Description
Hello Friends:
I am attempting something I've never tried before; several Friends have told me to go for it - and, surely it's worth trying.
I am an elderly, disabled former professor, with a few health issues (nothing contagious).
Seventeen months ago I moved from Miami Beach - two blocks from the Atlantic - to Santa Fe, the second-highest city in this vast country, to be closer to my daughter, who lives in Taos; we both thought it would be better, at this Stage of Life.
This time around, though, the body has been unable to adapt to the altitude (I've read there's 27% less oxygen here than at sea level).
I have just gone through a very close call - extremely short of breath, unable to sleep, ambulance came twice in one week: my sleep cycle severely and dangerously disrupted.
I have an apartment in SF, which I'm keeping - my lease ends next spring - but, clearly, I must move to a lower elevation, for a period of time, months, possibly through the Winter.
Right now it's hard to imagine staying at this altitude for the Fall and Winter.
I am looking for a good running vehicle, preferably a van (or camper van/RV), so i can live out of it for a while as I try to find lodgings at a significantly lower altitude...
But my disability check is too small to buy such a vehicle outright; I must either find a donated vehicle or a seller who will accept pay in monthly installments.
After all, I have a dependable monthly check from the federal government. And as I said, I'm keeping my apartment in SF - and my neighbors and the Friends I've made here can vouch for my honesty and the truth of my story.
I thank you for anything you can do on my behalf - I can only think of these two ways of finding a finding a vehicle I can live out of for a while - but of course I welcome any ideas.
Blessings and Thank You again,
Khidr Carlos Diaz
