Join our team and we'll teach you to be a Plumber! H.J. Pertzborn Plumbing and Fire Protection is seeking pre-apprentice shop assistants who wish to learn the plumbing trade! We will provide meaningful job experience to get you down the path of being a Plumber. In addition to working with our Shop team, you will work closely with our Journeyman Plumbers to install, repair and maintain pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal in commercial and industrial buildings. Duties will include: o Assisting our Shop with various plumbing fixtures including inventory and pulling job specific orders - a great way to learn the various plumbing parts and pieces! o Performing housekeeping including keeping our Shop and sites clean so everyone stays safe. o Inventory, loading, unloading, picking, distributing, and occasionally delivering materials, tools, and equipment. o Performs additional assignments as directed. To be successful in this role, you will need: o High school diploma or GED required. o 1 year of similar experience is preferred. o Strong mechanical aptitude with basic math skills. o Good verbal communication skills and listening skills. o A driving record which would be supported by our company insurance. o The ability to lift up to 80lbs on a consistent basis. o The interest and ability to learn about plumbing materials and fittings is required; o A strong work ethic including dependable attendance and punctuality is required; and o Previous experience pulling and backing up a pick-up truck with trailer is preferred. In exchange for your success in this role, this position may lead to a Plumbing Apprentice position within HJ Pertzborn. H.J. Pertzborn offers competitive pay and benefits. The position pay $16.00/hour to start and moves up to $17.50 after three months of employment.
