Description
pelvicachromis pulcher, aka dwarf rainbow cichlid or Kribensis
Rainbow "Kribs" are somewhat peaceful cichlids that can be kept in a non-aggressive community tank (w/ fast swimming tankmates) of 20gal or larger. Their adult size is roughly 3inches and will be most active in the bottom half of your aquarium. I do not recommended with corydoras, loaches or any other bottom fish (except pleco) that will compete for the same space.
Showing off their beautiful spawning colors, these fish are easy breeders and great parents. You'll need to provide a cave-like structure for them to lay their eggs and protect them until hatched. Although NOT quite as interesting as "mouth brooders" it is very enjoyable to watch them as cooperatively (mom&dad) usher around and protect their group of tiny fry as they grow. They do on occasion eat their babies if stressed or hungry.
