VOLUNTEER POSITIONS - Non profit high end thrift shop (Silverdale) Looking for RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) volunteers age 55+ Volunteer Opportunities for a local high end clothing and collectibles thrift shop "PRICER' VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION Price new and used merchandise received from donors that have been sorted. Pricers may be designated according to merchandise sorted. For example: Clothes Pricer, Accessories Pricer, Jewelry Pricer, Housewares Pricer or other merchandise designations as required. "SALES FLOOR VOLUNTEER" VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION Help customers find and buy merchandise in the shop and complete the buying transaction. Accepts donations, answers questions and assists customers. "SHOP SORTER" VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION" Sorts merchandise received from donors and depending on the merchandise category, prepares the upscale merchandise for pricing. Only items considered "quality resale" and in compliance with the Customer Product Safety Commission will be readied for sale. Discarded items are set aside for salvage or repair. Sorters may make minor repairs on merchandise. Sorters may be designated a Book Sorter, Clothing Sorter, Jewelry Sorter, Housewares Sorter, etc. QUALIFICATIONS: Awareness of current fashions, styles and labels, collectibles, antiques, etc., in their merchandise category. Knowledge of current retail prices. Ability to work independently or with a partner. Punctual and consistent in attendance. Willing to learn the agency mission, programs and goals. Ability to use pricing equipment ("Pricers" resulting in repetitive hand movement. JOB REQIUREMENTS: Be able to work (4) four hours a week. Light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly o move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary work. This program is sponsored by Lutheran Community Services Northwest. The growing segment of our older population is vital to strengthening our communities through their interest in helping others. As an RSVP volunteer, you are strengthening the positive impact people 55 and over have in our communities. Our focus is to incorporate meaningful volunteer opportunities that provide purpose and a way to give back to the community. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers as it matches their personal interests with opportunities to serve in their communities. Current RSVP volunteer positions include local food banks, congregate meal sites, non-profit thrift stores (shopping assistants, sorters, warehouse assistant) museums, hospitals, reading/enrichment/tutoring/mentoring groups, and administrative positions throughout the Kitsap County and Pierce County (Tacoma, Puyallup, Graham, Lakewood and Gig Harbor Peninsula. We are continually bringing on new and unique volunteer opportunities that help our community.
