CAPT Marie de Perio is the Senior Medical Advisor in the Office of the Director at CDC’s National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH). She is a physician board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases, and she is the NIOSH subject matter expert in occupational infectious diseases. She has also worked on CDC’s past responses to infectious diseases outbreaks including pandemic H1N1 influenza, Ebola, and Zika, COVID-19, and most recently monkeypox. LCDR Karl Feldmann is an Environmental Health Officer in the United States Public Health Service. He joined NIOSH in 2005 as a Biomedical Engineering Technician and now serves as an Industrial Hygienist in the Hazard Evaluation and Technical Assistance Branch working in the Health Hazard Evaluation program. LCDR Feldmann is a CIH and REHS/RS who has extensive experience in evaluating occupational hazards including non-ionizing radiation, welding fumes, pesticides, and heat stress.
