Description

Participants will learn the basics of biochar, why it's important for food production in Florida, and how to use low tech small scale methods to produce biochar out of various biomass materials. The first activity will be a short lecture/talk with a follow up Q&A. During the second activity attendees will help start a biochar pit fire and learn the ins and outs of managing it. Workshop attendees will go home with an informational handout and a 5lb bag of biochar for they're gardens. BYOB for refreshments and snacks.
