Re: Propaganda on Social Security....

Seems the author of the post has his blinders on. Washington Post Opinion: “Scott’s plan would also sunset — eliminate — all federal legislation over five years, under the (risky) assumption that worthy laws would be reenacted. That could mean an end to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, everything else mentioned above — and potentially more.” The Republican Study Committee, representing the majority of House Republicans, unveiled their plan to drastically cut Medicare and Social Security benefits. "It isn’t just NRSC Chair Rick Scott and U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney: This morning, a new report from the Daily Beast highlights that GOP U.S. Senate candidates across battleground states have for months been arguing for middle-class tax hikes and calling for cuts to retirement security programs like Social Security and Medicare. As the Daily Beast notes, “At least four GOP candidates in the most important battleground states this fall have either explicitly expressed support for Scott’s plan or have campaigned on the political views that form the foundation of his platform.” That includes at least several candidates who have openly embraced cuts to earned benefits like Social Security and Medicare like Pennsylvania’s David McCormick and Arizona’s Jim Lamon and Blake Masters. Meanwhile, in Ohio, Mike Gibbons has argued for zero-ing out the corporate tax rate while hiking taxes on working families." From:americanbridgepac.org/gop-cant-stop-pushing-social-security-medicare-cuts/ "Oz praised the plan offered by Medicare crook, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott of Florida, which calls for all federally supported programs to require reauthorization every five years. Such a policy would not automatically eliminate Social Security or Medicare, but it would allow privatization zealots who have never seen a government benefit they didn’t want to make a profit from to require Social Security funds to be invested in a way which generates profits for monied interests. Meanwhile McCormick proposed no cuts for current beneficiaries but then stated, “those entitlements are not sustainable in their present form.” While we shouldn’t be surprised (but we should be appalled) that a billionaire hedge fund manager would call programs that all Americans pay into “entitlements”, he is not incorrect that Social Security and Medicare need changes." From: penncapital-star.com/commentary/pa-s-2022-gop-u-s-senate-primary-could-define-future-of-social-security-medicare-ray-e-landis/ "Mother Jones: “A little-noticed budget document released in June by the Republican Study Committee details the group’s priorities… The 122-page manifesto calls for significantly reducing the size of America’s social safety net… [and] raising the age requirement to receive full Social Security benefits.” Both House and Senate Republicans have shown voters that they could gut essential programs like Social Security and Medicare if given the chance. Make no mistake: the MAGA agenda is simply too dangerous for Americans."
