Description

Direct support professionals, or DSPs, require special certification to administer most medications and treatments. IMPORTANT NOTES: This is an in-person 2-day event. Each day will last from 9:00 am - 5:00pm.A copy of the course curriculum will be available to borrow during the length of the program. Electronic copies can be found here.Please wear comfortable clothing.There will be a 30 minute lunch break. Participants are encouraged to bring a lunch due to time constraints, but are welcome to leave the building. There are fast-food options within a reasonable distance from where the course is taking place.Cancellation policy is noted in the syllabus. Refunds/credits will only be issued if you contact [email protected] or call 740-507-5384 at least 2 business days prior to the start of the class. No-call, no-shows will not be refunded.Course Goal To teach unlicensed DD personnel how to administer oral and topical medications and perform the 13 health-related activities (HRAs) specified by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. To be eligible to participate in the course and be eligible for certification, participants must meet the following requirements: Be employed by a certified DD Agency or be a certified DODD Independent Provider. Be at least 18 years old. Have obtained a High School Diploma or GED. Have the ability to read, write and understand English at a level that is sufficient to pass the course. Meets the criteria for background and registry checks in compliance with OAC 5123:2-2-02. This application is submitted by certified DD Agency or certified DODD Independent Provider (IP’s will submit application along with High School Diploma/GED documentation), which will be verified by the RN Trainer.
