Description
Ready for a guided tour of the brain for play therapists? Participants will learn how play therapists can use findings from neuroscience to design interventions to address insecure attachment. Join us to practice techniques to use in the play therapy room for co-regulation. Participants will create play therapy treatment strategies that integrate attachment and neurobiological considerations using ideas from interpersonal neurobiology (Dan Siegel’s approach), polyvagal theory (Stephen Porges) and the neuro-sequential treatment model (Bruce Perry). Learning Objectives: By the end of this course participants are able to: 1) describe how the foundational elements of interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB) including polyvagal and neurosequential heuristics are relevant for play therapy 2) describe how play therapists can address aspects secure and insecure attachment strategies that pattern child behavior 3) practice strategies to use in play therapy for co-regulation based on observations of child need on the polyvagal ladder 4) create play therapy treatment strategies that integrate attachment and neurobiological considerations 3 APT Contact CE.
