You hold yourself accountable to rise to every challenge while remaining motivated, driven, grounded, and present. What continues to go unacknowledged is the toll this takes on the body and spirit. This workshop will support emerging and seasoned leaders to think beyond self-care. You will examine your individual leadership style to determine areas where you shine and where you may have shadow. We will create a container of safety to explore these areas with our colleagues, while creating strategies to employ when faced with challenging situations At the conclusion of this workshop participants will: • Develop an understanding of and appreciation for their authentic leadership style • Unlock the genius that allows you to show up your most aspirational self • Relate to others from a place of agency, grace, trust, and respect ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR Lesley Kennedy Lesley Kennedy has dedicated her 20+ year career to helping strengthen Chicago’s non-profit sector. Lesley most recently served as Chief Equity Officer for Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana and was previously Director of Strategy and Organization Development at Cabrini Green Legal Aid (CGLA), supporting the organization’s internal culture and strategic direction. Prior to joining CGLA, Lesley developed and maintains a thriving executive coaching and consulting practice. In 2018, Lesley contributed as an Advisory Committee member to Equity in the Center’s report: Awake to Woke to Work: Building a Race Equity Culture. Additionally, Lesley supported the Chicago Freedom School as an inaugural board member. Lesley has a master’s degree in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in English and Women’s Studies from Stephens College. She is a Newfield Network trained personal and professional coach, and provides capacity building and leadership development consulting to public and private sector entities. Lesley is a guest lecturer on inclusive leadership at University of Chicago’s Crown School of Social Work, Policy and Practice and Loyola University’s Quinlan School of Business. ABOUT THE EVENT This workshop will take place in-person at the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice: 969 E 60th Street; Chicago, IL 60637 Mask optional. This convening is open to all invitees who are compliant with UChicago vaccination requirements and, because of ongoing health risks, particularly to the unvaccinated, participants are expected to adopt the risk mitigation measures (masking and social distancing, etc.) appropriate to their vaccination status as advised by public health officials or to their individual vulnerabilities as advised by a medical professional. Public convening may not be safe for all and carries a risk for contracting COVID-19, particularly for those unvaccinated. Participants will not know the vaccination status of others and should follow appropriate risk mitigation measures.
