The Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Program Directors, Inc. (BPD) is dedicated to the promotion of excellence in Baccalaureate Social Work Education. The first annual conference was hosted in Nazareth, Kentucky in 1983. From its humble beginning with only 53 attendees and 21 presentations, now in its 40th year, the annual conference has grown into the premiere annual event for baccalaureate social work education. Throughout our history as a profession, an important key to our survival has been our ability to collaborate effectively on teams. Whether that be at the micro level in providing direct care or at the macro level to improve public health through legislative efforts. Collaboration with members of our own profession and other stakeholders has proven to be an essential survival skill. As social work educators, we are charged with not only using this skill with our own stakeholders but also teaching these skills to our students. The 2023 Annual Conference will highlight presentations that showcase the theme of "Collaborative Social Work: The Key to Surviving Difficult Times" How do we demonstrate the use of collaboration in the classroom, the community, and throughout our profession’s history? How are we preparing our students to be generalist practitioners who embrace the skill of collaboration on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels? What part does collaboration play in the social justice movement and the long overdue conversations concerning racism and cultural diversity, leading to an increased level of activism not seen in this country for decades?
