Description

I've been playing guitar on and off for several years. I believe my playing is ok but singing has some work to do. I think I can finger pick (convincingly) my interpretations of Kurt Vile's cover of How Lucky and Mark Knopfler's Sailing to Philadelphia, Get Lucky, Romeo & Juliet. My favorite musician is Mark Knopfler, but I don't ever expect to be as good as he or Dire Straits. :) I can see several songs in the Americana/Folk/Rock/Country Rock space. i.e., as being an acoustic/basic starting point. - CAAMP, Blue Rodeo, Todd Snider, Wilco, Jason Isbell to Screaming Trees and other rock acoustic stuff to Shooter Jennings, Sturgill Simpson to Violent Femmes, INXS, Alice in Chains, and much more. I hoping you have intermediate skills (not pro, but not a beginner either) in playing an instrument. Depending on your instrument(s) of choice.... piano may allow us to better interpret Soulfight by the Revivalist, or banjo may allow some CAAMP covers, violin might allow us to interpret Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys, or, perhaps, a female singer allows us some duet stuff like The Devil's All Around by Shovels & Rope, or First Try by Johnny Swim. And of course, many others, I'm sure. Mid to Long Term goal -- I'm totally shy when playing in front of people despite having perhaps a little talent. (They say you're toughest on yourself when your alone vs playing with others) Jamming with others should build that confidence. Maybe we'll do small sets at one of the local joints around South Portland or elsewhere. First is to gain confidence, comfort, and a solid list of songs.
