Description
A black female dog with brindle and white patches was found on 10/24 in Red Bank near the intersection of Lamar and Crisman. she is NOT chipped. She weighs about 50 pounds and has four small scars on her ears.
If her humans cannot be found, we are hoping to find her a new home. She needs someone that is home most of the day or willing to work with her by building her confidence, as she has separation anxiety. She would do best in a home with another dog, as she warms up much quicker if another dog is present (if your current dog has behavior issues already, I would be very cautious because she follows the lead of the top dog). She is very submissive and cuddly. she doesn’t seem to know basic commands, but she IS housebroken and leash trained. She responds well to redirects and positive reinforcement and has learned "sit" and "stay" within a couple days of being with us. she doesn’t get on furniture unless you invite her up. she is not food or toy aggressive, but does give a warning growl if another dog tries to get a toy she is playing with. she has not been reactive to cats (so far), and she is very, very child friendly. she is very calm, surprisingly so for such a young dog. she hasn’t barked yet, but she does whimper if she needs to go potty. When guests arrive, she cowers at first and cautiously approaches for sniffs and pets, but I'm not sure if that is just because she's new or if that's just her vibe. She will let you pick her up, touch her face, mouth, and paws without any issues. she will accept baths and grooming with little issue. Basically, she is a GREAT dog for an experienced dog owner. She has an appointment for spay in February, which is already paid for. she will also have all of her vaccines and she is currently on flea + tick prevention.
(she is the dog on the left in the last photo; it's truly just a coincidence that she looks similar to our family dog)
