Czech kolace, also spelled kolache and kolachy are yeast-risen rounds of dough topped with fruit filling, cheese and/or streusel and baked.
Students will be instructed in how to mix the yeast-based pastry dough. Because the first rising of the dough takes about an hour, premade risen dough will be given to each participant, and they will learn how to form the dough into rounds. During the second prove of the rounds, Chef Gina will demonstrate how to make the toppings. Once ready, the class will assemble the Kolache with toppings of their choice; apricot, poppy seed, cherry, raspberry, cream cheese, apple, or prune will be available.
Once baked and cooled each student will take home one dozen Kolache. The $45 fee covers all materials, recipes and instruction.
