Many in the world of nonprofits, and even in the church, view debt and giving as enemies. People cannot give if they are in debt. However, there are times when the opposite occurs – those with the least give the most, while those with the most, give the least.
As the unsurmountable rising national and personal debt continues to increase, you may wonder how we continue to help those who cannot help themselves. How do churches continue to keep the lights on and provide for the pastoral family?
For decades, psychologists have studied debt and giving. The interplay between the two determines how many spend their hard-earned incomes. In this workshop you will learn:
The how’s and why’s behind spending on both debt and giving
How to identify the values that drive spending
How to help givers give (did you know this is a basic human need?)
How your own perspective on debt and giving affects those around you
This workshop will include research-packed information, a variety of practical applications, and small group discussion activities. You will leave equipped to make a difference in your own life and the community you serve.
There is no cost for participation, but registration is required.
This event is underwritten by a generous grant from the Lilly Foundation.
