Description

Imagination and Memory with Evocative Objects. Join author, educator, and WestEdge Factory artist in residence Cat Pleska and educator, author, and Huntington’s literary laureate Daniel O’Malley for a free writing workshop about the everyday objects in our lives that have stories to tell. No experience necessary! Bring paper/pens or laptop/I-pad November 17 from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the WestEdge Factory. Evocative Objects offer writers an opportunity to understand the relationship between memory, emotions, and our imaginations. For example, a memory of ballet shoes might remind a former dancer of her experience as a ballerina or maybe it reminds her of her ability to become disciplined, which carried over into other areas of her life. Bring an object that means something to you but we will also have objects for you to consider for writing memories or stories. Objects people have brought to previous writing workshops: baby shoes, photos, kitchen utensils, rocks, feathers, books, diaries, journals, items in their purse or pockets, pens, a mug or cup, socks, a vase or glass item, letters. Anything that means something special to YOU!
