Birth of New Biccari in Philadelphia is a fascinating story of how using genealogy data such as census records, ship manifests, naturalization records that identified clusters of paesani from the Comune di Biccari who formed new settlements in various sections of Philadelphia. These Italian immigrants managed to form a large group; that represented a paese (from the same country; village/town) to the point of occupying various neighborhoods in Philadelphia. Just as in other Italian American enclaves, a large population from a certain region/village would establish such a paese. Readers will see the archival documents and old vintage immigrant family photos that make up the New Biccari.During the Great Arrival thousands of Italian immigrants resided in Little Italy enclaves across America. Erick Lucera, a co-author is a direct descendent of great-grandparents Aniello Lucera and Elisa Basile who were from Biccari and emigrated to Philadelphia during the Great Arrival. Erick along with his relatives Gennaro and Guiseppe Lucera who are lifelong residents of Biccari-Italy and are also the local historians that collaborated/document in the book a selection of families who make up the history of Biccari in Philadelphia. On August 9, 2022 the Sindaco (mayor) of Comune di Biccari-Italy; Gianfilippo Mignogna hosted the initial book presentation within the Piazza del Municipio of Biccari to an audience of Biccari locals/descendants whose ancestors left Biccari and formed the New Biccari in Philadelphia.
