Join the Thomistic Institute NYC and St. Joseph's Church in Greenwich Village as we host Dr. R. R. Reno for his talk "Theory: A Tool or an Invitation to Contemplation? Avoiding the Pitfalls of a Modern Approach to Theory". Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but walk-ins are welcome. Avoiding the Pitfalls of a Modern Approach to Theory"7:30 - 8:30 pm – Closing reception About Thomistic Institute: The Thomistic Institute exists to promote Catholic truth in our contemporary world by strengthening the intellectual formation of Christians at universities, in the Church, and in the wider public square. The thought of St. Thomas Aquinas, the Universal Doctor of the Church, is our touchstone. The TI is an academic institute of the Pontifical Faculty of the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C. About the Speaker: R.R. Reno, the editor of First Things, a journal of religion and public life, serves on the board of advisers of the Edmund Burke Foundation, the sponsor or the 2019 National Conservatism Conference. After earning his doctorate in religious studies from Yale, he taught theology at Creighton University for twenty years. His previous books include Genesis: A Theological Commentary, Fighting the Noonday Devil, and Resurrecting the Idea of a Christian Society. He lives with his wife in New York City.
