Description
Our Cause There are few options for elite women's road racing in NorCal, and Monarch Racing, Presented by KaiVelo, aims to provide opportunity and support, and grow women's cycling locally and at a larger level. We want to bring more attention to women's cycling and get top women athletes out there winning high-profile races. We need to raise $25,000 to help pay for lodging, transport, and race entry fees so that our team can compete in the best domestic races in 2023. While there are many ways you can support women's athletics, with Monarch Racing, we are 100% women-managed and operated. Your donation will go to a grassroots effort where the women athletes are in charge. Meet the Team Monarch Racing is made up of top female athletes and cycling ambassadors, including: Anna Hicks, the 2021 Collegiate MTB National ChampionAnnie Whalen, a former D1 RowerSarah Flamm, who took 4th place at the Belgian Waffle Ride KansasChloe Mauvais, who just placed first at the Folsom Classic bike raceHelen Gilbert-Snyder, the California Road Race State Champion 2021Make a Larger Donation If you would like to make a larger donation visit our GoFundMe page here. The Event The rides all start and finish at Mike's Bikes in Berkeley. In the morning, coffee and donuts will be available for all riders. Once you complete the ride, enjoy a burrito and ice cream and chat with the racers while you rest, rehydrate, and refuel. The ticket price includes morning coffee & donuts + one burrito & ice cream to refuel after the ride. Pick from Three Different Rides 1. Easy: A short 34-mile route first crosses the bridge to Treasure Island and back to Berkeley. If that is enough riding for you, you're done. The group will also head up to Richmond Point, past the Rosie the Riveter Statue, and back to Mike's Bikes. Link to Strava Route 2 . Medium: The 60-mile route option takes one up the Bay Trail and across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge. We will head past Larkspur and tackle the legendary Paradise Loop bicycle ride. The ride has beautiful views of the Bay and Angel Island, and we will make a coffee stop in Tiburon before returning. Link to Strava Route 3 . Full: The 94-mile option will head across the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge, continue through Marin to Point Reyes Station, and back to Mike's Bikes along some of the most beautiful roads the SF Bay Area offers cyclists. There will be minimal regrouping, and the climbs are challenging. This should not be your first 100-mile ride.
